How to study bachelors in Germany?
A bachelor’s degree from Germany is a dream come true for many international students. In Germany, Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering, Business, Medicine, and other fields are available and are taught in ENGLISH, GERMAN OR BILINGUAL (combination of two languages) mediums. The students have to prove their language proficiency for getting admission to their desired medium of study.
Following your 12th grade, you have a variety of options for Specialised and Super Specialised Courses with the most relevant curriculum to meet the current industrial needs. This increases your chances of getting hired after your bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility for bachelor studies in Germany
You are eligible to apply for a bachelor’s degree programme after 12th grade, if you fulfil one of the following criteria*:
- If you have a schooling in State or CBSE curriculum, you have to pass the official assessment examination in Germany after the foundation program.
- If you have your schooling from outside Germany, you have to successfully finish the first year of a bachelor programme in relevant field from a recognized foreign university.
- Successfully clearing the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (Advance) for admission to the courses in technology and natural sciences in Germany
- Successfully completing IB or similar internationally recognised examination with the requisite subject combination in your 12th grade.

How to prepare for your bachelor course in Germany?
Foundation Programs / Preparatory Year
- Preparatory course helps you to bridge your theory-based education in the School to the Practical Based education system followed at German Public Universities. Depending on the area of your bachelor studies, different types of foundation courses like M course, T course or W course can be taken by the students.
- M-Course prepares students for university studies in Germany in the fields of medicine, biology and pharmacy. T-Course prepares for international students in technical fields such as engineering, IT or computer sciences, natural sciences or mathematics. W-Course prepare students to study bachelor course in economics, business-administration or social studies.
- After successful completion of the foundation course at any of the registered Studienkolleg in Germany, the students have the opportunity to join either in Technical University or University of Applied science
Bachelor Courses in Germany
The most common Bachelor’s degrees in Germany are Bachelor of Science – B.Sc., Bachelor of Engineering – B.Eng. and Bachelor of Arts – B.A. Usually, a bachelor studies in Germany consist of 6 to 8 semesters duration with standard subjects along with majors and minor subjects, project work and internship based on each course.
A bachelor’s degree in Germany is recognised as a first academic degree and a fully featured course which will allow the students to directly embark their career after graduating. If the students want to continue studying after Bachelor’s degree, they can enrol in to a master’s degree programme as a second academic qualification.

Tuition Fees For Bachelors Courses
Most of the public universities in Germany charge NO Tuition Fee for the students irrespective of their nationality. Most cases, the students have to pay a nominal amount as semester contribution and it may vary with respect to the university.
